I view images as a journal of the past, a retelling of today's events, and a foretelling of the hopes and fears for tomorrow. I devote most days to storytelling with oil, embedding the elements of time, individuality, and society within. The inspiration for my favored subject matter of coastal landscapes and seascapes comes from en plein air adventures, dreams, and memories.
I don't think. I look at something, and something happens; it moves me. I find it interesting - it would be neat to paint that - I like the way the light reflects off it, the shape. Some colors. Maybe images are a journal, maybe they foretell what we fear or hope will come. But when I paint, I forget. I just see what is in front of me. I like the way oil moves on canvas, the buttery texture of the oil. And when I'm done, I have created something.
